Being a college student means being broke a lot of the time… Unfortunately, that’s my current financial situation 😦
And being broke means declining many social invitations that involve spending money, and worst of all it means skipping out on the Vans Warped Tour with all of my friends today.
This will be the first time in 5 years that I haven’t gone to the summer music festival and I’m definitely bummed about it. It feels like I’m breaking some kind of sacred tradition, you know? While my friends are at Merriweather Post Pavilion watching bands like The Wonder Years, The Summer Set and Man Overboard, I’ll be at work and avoiding all social networking sites.
All bitterness aside, I still wanted to make a post about Warped Tour. So before my friends and thousands of other Warped attendees are out sweatin’ it in the hot summer sun today, here some tips on what to wear to make sure you can fashionably and comfortably enjoy your day!
A classic and easy-as-pie outfit that works really anytime during the summer is a crop top + shorts combo. For Warped, you’ll want to find a crop top that’s flowy – any type of material that clings to your body will make you even sweatier than you already are, which is not something you want to be concerned about when you’re tying to enjoy your favorite bands! Layer one of these options over a bandeau or a bathing suit top and you’re good to go!

If you’ve grown tired of shorts and crop tops, or you simply don’t want to bare your midriff, rompers (also called playsuits) are a superb alternative! But lets get one vital piece of info out of the way right now: rompers are not the most convenient piece of clothing to be wearing when you need to use the restroom… haha. Other than that minor flaw, I love every single thing about rompers. They’re comfortable, easy to style, and the best crowd-surfing/good-time-having option you can find! As you can see with these choices, you can throw on a fedora, a few bangles or a necklace and you’re good to go!

As it’s the Vans Warped Tour, the obvious choice for cladding your feet in style is of course Vans. Naturally, the majority of the crowd may be wearing similar shoes, but you can still stand out and spruce up your outfit even more with bright patterns and colors! Of course, you don’t realy have to wear Vans to the Vans Warped Tour. So for good measure, I threw in a few pairs of Converses that I’m fancying right now! Also important to note, unless you plan on playing it cool and staying out of the crowds completely, sandals are a definite no go. If you choose to wear sandals be prepared for your toes to get stepped on, your feet to be covered in dirt and to come home with some very unfortunate tan lines on your feet.

At Warped, you’re gonna get tons of random free goodies- take them, embrace them, cherish them, etc. A cute backpack is a necessity so you have a place to store all of said goodies. This Watermelon printed backpack (or rucksack if you’re from the UK and/or very cool) from the Lazy Oaf x Nasty Gal collaboration collection kinda sorta makes my mouth water… Get it?! (Sorry guys, bad puns just have to happen sometimes). I love it so much that it’s the only backpack option I’m posting. But if you’re not craving watermelon, you can check CharlotteRusse.com and AE.com for more backpack options!
And there you have it! If you’re attending Warped Tour today – I’ll be living vicariously through you as I stock shelves at work. If your Warped Tour date is waiting in the wings, then take some of these style tips and find a look that works best for you!
My final Warped Tour tips? Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen (especially my fellow gingers – we gotta look out for each other), and most importantly – have fun!
